James Iglewski
Jim joined the Courier Capital team following a long and successful career in private banking with several large U.S. banks. He holds a BA from SUNY Buffalo State University and an MBA from Canisius College. Jim brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role. Prior to joining Courier Capital, Jim was a Managing Director at U.S. Trust/Bank of America in New York City and headed up the Institutional Portfolio Management team for Bank of America in the Northeastern U.S. In this role he helped develop and implement investment policy for some of the largest non-profit institutions in the country while leading a team of portfolio strategists in delivering the investment strategy of the firm. He served as the Bank’s Proxy Committee Chair voting on shareholder issues on behalf of clients and was a member of the Chief Investment Office leadership team.
In addition to his proven experience, Jim has served on the boards of numerous Western New York non-profits, including the BPO, Buffalo Renaissance Foundation, Hilbert College Board of Trustees, Gerard Place, and the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy, among others. He understands the challenges facing foundation and endowment investment committees and is passionate about helping non-profits reach their investment goals and helping them to mission success.
Thomas Hanlon, CFA, CFP®, CEBS
With over 25 years of experience serving high-net-worth clients in the Western New York region, Tom is an experienced investment professional. As part of the Courier Capital team, Tom has overseen research activities, managed client portfolios and contributed to the firm’s investment strategy. Prior to his tenure at Courier Capital, Tom served as the Regional Manager & Senior Portfolio Manager for M&T Bank's Trust Division in Buffalo. His extensive background also includes roles such as Vice President & Senior Portfolio Manager at both M&T Bank and HSBC Bank, USA. In these capacities, he managed investment portfolios for high-net-worth clients, institutions, foundations, and employee benefit plans.
He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) licensee, and has earned the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation through the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. In his free time, Tom serves on the board of local non-profits.
William Gurney
Bill is a valued member of the Courier Capital team, overseeing client portfolios and leading our fixed income research and strategy function. He provides fundamental research support to our economic and equity research process. He holds a degree from St. Lawrence University, where he studied finance and economics. He spent almost 20 years’ managing corporate portfolios, municipal bond and futures portfolios, and brokerage business at organizations nationwide before calling Western New York and Courier Capital home. Bill is currently a director of an international investment company and is an active board member of several area foundations.
Rebecca Westervelt, AIF®
Rebecca brings over 20 years of experience in high-impact roles in the investment services industry to her role as serves as a Senior Managing Director of Courier Capital. She is responsible for overseeing all aspects of wealth management and asset management operations, as well as leading and supporting the strategic vision of the firm. Previously, Rebecca was a Partner and Senior Vice President at a registered investment advisor in Rochester. She earned a BA in Economics and English from Bucknell University and an MBA from Rochester Institute of Technology. Rebecca holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary™ professional designation and is involved in the local community, serving on the board of HCR Cares as Treasurer.
Jason Stronz
Jason is the Senior Managing Director and Director of Institutional Services out of our Jamestown office. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Allegheny College and an MBA from Lake Erie College. Prior to joining the team over ten years ago, Jason served as the Executive Director for the Jamestown Renaissance Corporation. He is an active member of his community- having served on numerous non-profit boards and committees, including the Community Learning Council Board of Trustees and the Center City Development Corporation Board of Directors. Jason also volunteers his time and service to support local organizations like Junior Achievement of Western New York, the United Way of Southern Chautauqua County and others.
Steven Gattuso, CFA, CFP®, CMA
Steve joined the Courier Capital team from the Wilmington Trust division of M&T Bank where he managed portfolios for Trusts, Estates and high net worth individuals. He earned a BA in Economics and Computer Science as well as an MBA in Finance from Canisius College. With over 25 years of experience in the investment industry, he shares his knowledge and experience with young finance professionals as the Director of the Golden Griffin Fund and an assistant professor of graduate and undergraduate courses in the Economics/Finance Department. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) holder, and he has attained the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designations. Steve has served on the Board of the CFA Society of Buffalo and gives back to his community by volunteering at the Frank Lloyd Wright’s Darwin Martin House and serving on the Advisory Board for the Clarence Academy of Finance.
Heather Wisinski
Heather currently serves as the organization’s Senior Director of Operations at Courier Capital. She is responsible for overseeing the firm’s administrative and operations areas across all Courier Capital locations. Prior to joining the team, she worked for over a decade in various client-facing roles. Heather has obtained her NASD licenses Series 6 and 63 licenses, as well as Life, Accident and Health Insurance licenses. She is a valued member of the Leadership Team, supporting staff and clients alike.
