James Iglewski

President

Jim joined the Courier Capital team following a long and successful career in private banking with several large U.S. banks. He holds a BA from SUNY Buffalo State University and an MBA from Canisius College. Jim brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role. Prior to joining Courier Capital, Jim was a Managing Director at U.S. Trust/Bank of America in New York City and headed up the Institutional Portfolio Management team for Bank of America in the Northeastern U.S. In this role he helped develop and implement investment policy for some of the largest non-profit institutions in the country while leading a team of portfolio strategists in delivering the investment strategy of the firm. He served as the Bank’s Proxy Committee Chair voting on shareholder issues on behalf of clients and was a member of the Chief Investment Office leadership team.

In addition to his proven experience, Jim has served on the boards of numerous Western New York non-profits, including the BPO, Buffalo Renaissance Foundation, Hilbert College Board of Trustees, Gerard Place, and the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy, among others. He understands the challenges facing foundation and endowment investment committees and is passionate about helping non-profits reach their investment goals and helping them to mission success.

Thomas Hanlon, CFA, CFP®, CEBS

Executive Vice President of Wealth Management and Co-Chief Investment Officer

With over 25 years of experience serving high-net-worth clients in the Western New York region, Tom is an experienced investment professional. As part of the Courier Capital team, Tom has overseen research activities, managed client portfolios and contributed to the firm’s investment strategy. Prior to his tenure at Courier Capital, Tom served as the Regional Manager & Senior Portfolio Manager for M&T Bank's Trust Division in Buffalo. His extensive background also includes roles such as Vice President & Senior Portfolio Manager at both M&T Bank and HSBC Bank, USA. In these capacities, he managed investment portfolios for high-net-worth clients, institutions, foundations, and employee benefit plans.

He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) licensee, and has earned the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation through the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. In his free time, Tom serves on the board of local non-profits.

William Gurney

Executive Vice-President & Senior Portfolio Manager

Bill is a valued member of the Courier Capital team, overseeing client portfolios and leading our fixed income research and strategy function. He provides fundamental research support to our economic and equity research process. He holds a degree from St. Lawrence University, where he studied finance and economics. He spent almost 20 years’ managing corporate portfolios, municipal bond and futures portfolios, and brokerage business at organizations nationwide before calling Western New York and Courier Capital home. Bill is currently a director of an international investment company and is an active board member of several area foundations.

Rebecca Westervelt, AIF®

Senior Managing Director - Retirement Services

Rebecca brings over 20 years of experience in high-impact roles in the investment services industry to her role as serves as a Senior Managing Director of Courier Capital. She is responsible for overseeing all aspects of wealth management and asset management operations, as well as leading and supporting the strategic vision of the firm. Previously, Rebecca was a Partner and Senior Vice President at a registered investment advisor in Rochester. She earned a BA in Economics and English from Bucknell University and an MBA from Rochester Institute of Technology. Rebecca holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary™ professional designation and is involved in the local community, serving on the board of HCR Cares as Treasurer.

Jason Stronz

Senior Managing Director - Institutional Services

Jason is the Senior Managing Director and Director of Institutional Services out of our Jamestown office. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Allegheny College and an MBA from Lake Erie College. Prior to joining the team over ten years ago, Jason served as the Executive Director for the Jamestown Renaissance Corporation. He is an active member of his community- having served on numerous non-profit boards and committees, including the Community Learning Council Board of Trustees and the Center City Development Corporation Board of Directors. Jason also volunteers his time and service to support local organizations like Junior Achievement of Western New York, the United Way of Southern Chautauqua County and others.

Steven Gattuso, CFA, CFP®, CMA

Co-Chief Investment Officer & Senior Portfolio Manager

Steve joined the Courier Capital team from the Wilmington Trust division of M&T Bank where he managed portfolios for Trusts, Estates and high net worth individuals. He earned a BA in Economics and Computer Science as well as an MBA in Finance from Canisius College. With over 25 years of experience in the investment industry, he shares his knowledge and experience with young finance professionals as the Director of the Golden Griffin Fund and an assistant professor of graduate and undergraduate courses in the Economics/Finance Department. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) holder, and he has attained the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designations. Steve has served on the Board of the CFA Society of Buffalo and gives back to his community by volunteering at the Frank Lloyd Wright’s Darwin Martin House and serving on the Advisory Board for the Clarence Academy of Finance.

Heather Wisinski

Senior Director of Operations

Heather currently serves as the organization’s Senior Director of Operations at Courier Capital. She is responsible for overseeing the firm’s administrative and operations areas across all Courier Capital locations. Prior to joining the team, she worked for over a decade in various client-facing roles. Heather has obtained her NASD licenses Series 6 and 63 licenses, as well as Life, Accident and Health Insurance licenses. She is a valued member of the Leadership Team, supporting staff and clients alike.

Stephen Robshaw

Senior Vice President & Senior Portfolio Manager

Founder of Robshaw & Julian Associates, Inc. Stephen has established one of the original Western New York investment advisory firms. Courier Capital acquired Robshaw & Julian in 2017, strengthening its Western New York presence and gaining experienced members for the team. He has experience developing investment strategies for high-net-wort clients, institutions, foundations, and employee benefit plans. He also held the position of Director of Research and applied industry research to the firm’s investment direction. He earned a BA in History from the College of the Holy Cross and an MBA from SUNY Buffalo State University. Steve began his career as a security analyst and has spent much of his career serving on investment committees and teaching economics at the University of Buffalo and Millard Fillmore College. He is an SEC registered Investment Adviser, a member of the CFA Society of Buffalo and the CFA Institute and an adviser to the University of Buffalo investment committee as well as to the Sisters of Saint Francis.

Nicholas Norvell, CFP®

Senior Vice President & Senior Portfolio Manager

A co-founder of HNP Capital, which merged with Courier Capital, Nick holds more than 20 years of professional experience in the financial services arena. He is an independent Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) who has been working closely with families and individuals to formulate, implement, monitor and update their comprehensive financial plans. Using custom-designed strategic programs to address concerns in the areas of wealth management, retirement, income distribution and estate planning, Nick’s skills have resulted in unique financial plans for countless families, individuals and business owners. He also serves on the firm's investment management committee.

Nick holds a bachelor’s degree in business economics from SUNY Oneonta. Beyond his role with Courier Capital, he is a member of the prestigious George Eastman Circle and serves on the Seneca Waterways Council of the Boy Scouts of America for its Annual Sporting Clays.
 

Thomas Reading, CWA

Senior Vice President & Senior Portfolio Adviser

Tom has served as a Senior Portfolio Adviser with HNP Capital at their Pittsburgh office for several years, joining Courier Capital with the two firms merging in 2023. He holds more than 30 years of investment advisory experience when he specialized in supporting estate planning and insurance for high-net-worth client relationships. Tom earned his bachelor’s degree in economics and history from the College of Wooster and furthered his professional development by obtaining the designation of Chartered Wealth Adviser (CWA) through Michigan State University – The Estate and Wealth Strategies Institute.

Stephen Fassel

Senior Portfolio Adviser

Steve serves as a Senior Portfolio Adviser at Courier Capital, joining the team following the recent merger with HNP Capital. Before joining HNP Capital, Steve spent a decade as a Licensed Registered Representative. Holding a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor, his education and experience have lent itself to helping his clients achieve their unique financial goals.

Ryan Hanlon

Portfolio Manager

Ryan has recently joined the Courier Capital team, bringing with him experience in the banking industry as one of the top Loan Officers of a local bank. He currently serves as a Portfolio Manager. Ryan holds a bachelor’s degree in business with a concentration in finance from SUNY Fredonia.

David Robbins

Senior Portfolio Adviser

With over 20 years in the financial industry, David has been part of the Courier Capital team for over a decade, currently serving as a Senior Portfolio Adviser. In the first ten years of his professional career, he specialized in estate and financial planning for an independent firm. Today he brings his experience to support the clients of Courier Capital with extensive experience in trusts, wills and the nuanced aspects of nursing home planning. David holds a BS in environmental science from SUNY Brockport.

Alexandra Pfeifer

Research Analyst & Trader

Alex serves as a Research Analyst & Trader, keeping a pulse on top holding and model equities. She also organizes the team’s weekly Investment Committee meetings where stock holdings and asset classes are discussed and supports the research of new investment ideas. Alex has been part of the Courier Capital team for over five years, joining the team after graduation from Canisius College with a BS in finance. During her studies, she participated in the CFA Research Institute Challenge where she and her team won the America’s Regional competition and were among the five global finalists. Today, Alex also serves as Treasurer of her condo’s Homeowner’s Association Board.

Ryan Coppola

Research Analyst & Trader

Ryan joined the team as a Research Intern and has become a Research Analyst & Trdaer since then. Previously, Ryan served as the Chief Investment Officer for a student run endowment program valued at approximately $700,000.00 with a large-cap domestic equity mandate. Ryan holds a BS in business administration from SUNY Buffalo, a BA in economics and an MS in finance. He chose to start his career at Courier Capital and is actively pursuing licensing through the CFA Program.

Karen Mudrak

Relationship Manager

Karen has been a member of the Courier Capital team for more than fifteen years, where she currently holds the position of Relationship Manager. With a wealth of experience totaling over 20 years, she has previously held roles at HSBC Brokerage and Morgan Stanley. Karen holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from St. Bonaventure University and an MBA with a concentration in financial services from Canisius College. As a dedicated financial professional, Karen provides exceptional service and support to her clients.

Jean Johansson, CFP®

Relationship Manager

Jean has been a proud member of the Courier Capital Team for almost 25 years, with an additional 12 years of prior experience in the financial industry working at local Western New York institutions. She currently serves as a Relationship Manager on the Client Services Team and has earned the professional designation of Certified Financial Planner (CFP) during her career. Outside of work, Jean serves on the Board of the Pet Emergency Fund and volunteers at Oishei Children’s Hospital. As an experienced financial professional, Jean provides tremendous service and support for clients.

Nora Schrantz

Relationship Manager

Nora is a Relationship Manager with almost 30 years of service with the Courier Capital team. She holds a BS in business administration management from SUNY Fredonia. She started as a Financial Analyst at Alltel Corporation but made a career supporting clients of Courier Capital. 

Kathleen Anderson

Senior Account Administrator

Kathy has been a member of the Courier Capital team for almost 20 years, currently serving as a Senior Account Administrator. She contributes to the high-quality and responsive service our clients have come to rely on throughout the years. She holds a BS in elementary education from SUNY Fredonia and an associate’s degree in liberal arts with a minor in mathematics from Jamestown Community College. Kathy also is a State of New York Notary Public. A proud member of her community, Kathy has also served as the President of the Jamestown High School Football Boosters Club and Treasurer of Fletcher School PTA in the past.

Christine Keuker

Senior Account Administrator

Christine has been a member of our team for over 25 years, joining when it was formerly known as Robshaw & Julian. She currently serves as Senior Account Administrator on the Client Service Team. Christine earned a BA in economics from SUNY Buffalo. Her commitment to her clients has contributed to the high-quality service that is the foundation of Courier Capital.

Pamela Rayburn

Senior Account Administrator

Pam joined the firm when the teams of Courier Capital and HNP Capital merged and serves clients in our Rochester market. She has over 15 years of experience in the industry where she was responsible for client operations at firms such as Morgan Stanley. She holds a degree in business management from the Pennsylvania College of Technology. Her attention to detail and people skills makes her an asset to our operational team.

Kevin McGraw

Account Administrator

Kevin is a valued member of the Courier Capital team, joining the team after graduation from SUNY Buffalo with a BS in business administration and a concentration in finance. As an Account Administrator, he takes pride in supporting the advisors on staff and addressing clients’ needs.

Meghan Guercio

Account Administrator

Meghan serves as an Account Administrator for Courier Capital’s Rochester Office. She holds a BS in business administration with a concentration in finance from SUNY Fredonia and her MBA from St. John Fisher University. She supports the team’s day-to-day operations and upholds the firm’s commitment to providing quality service to our clients.
